I like this messy knot - it's modern %26amp; a little undone so it's not so stiff: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-crea...

It depends on the style of the dress 'cause I'd tell you to either wear it down or up.

If your dress is a halter - I strongly suggest that you wear your hair up, because think of it this way: your halter straps are thick and around your neck with all that hair around your neck and shoulders - it'll just look junky. Stick to updos if you have a halter.

You could pin your hair up into a loosely soft bun. Take your hair and gather it into your hands near the middle of your head like you would if you were doing a pony tail, and twist your hair until it winds around itself into a bun. Take bobby pins and pin it around your bun. They surprisingly hold really well. When my hair was down to my chest - i only needed 6 pins. You can also choose to add some product into your hair..maybe the ones that create waves so you'll get a messy, soft casual bun.

If your dress is strapless, an updo or leaving your hair down works bothways. I really like the bun for every different kind of dresses :) If your hair is down, you can curl it with a medium sized curling iron and get messy tousled waves. Or you could use the iron to create waves on one side of your head while the rest of your hair is pinned back into a bun (it'll look like those 40s - 50s hairstyle). Experiment and find whats best for you.

Rest of the dresses that i didn't mention: If the straps are kinda wide, I think its best if you do an updo. If the straps are skinny, you could do bothways.

An idea: Lets say your day time hair is a bun updo. At night when you take down your bun - you'll get soft waves! That can be your hairstyle. Just run your fingers carefully through your hair and spray with hairspray and you're ready!

OR

If your day time hairdo is curly, at night you could tie it up into a loose bun. Since your strands are curly, when its in bun form it'll just look so soft and pretty.

Is your hair naturally curly? If so - you could straighten your hair for a really sleek look.

I suggest you do opposite of what your hair is to look different .

Finish off w/e hairstyle with hairspray.

Whatever it is that you choose to do, make sure to put in a heat protector in your hair if you are using any type of heat (blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron). It protects your strands from heat damage.

I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!
